Professional Development

Realizing Strengths

My alumni mentor is Chris Geary, someone who opened my eyes to countless opportunities in my fields of interest. Chris encouraged me not to give up on finding a path that truly resonated with me. He pushed me to think critically about what I value and what I was not willing to sacrifice. Together, we explored opportunities ranging from public health organizations to government offices to consulting firms.

Another meaningful part of my professional development this summer was taking my strengths profile assessment. My top realized strength is self-awareness. This aligns well with both my personal and professional goals as I prioritize mindfulness and attention to detail in everything I do. The rest of my realized strengths connect well to my overarching level of self-awareness.

Additionally, my top unrealized strength is writer. Reflecting upon both categories, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to communicate my summer experiences through this platform. I have also been challenged to communicate certain findings such as preliminary analysis reports to my community partners; through this process, I was able to practice writing and translating information for different audiences. I am excited to continue my development with my Strengths Report Profile in mind.
